I am a 47 year-old single parent of two children [a boy (13) and a girl 11)]. I have been an Adventist since I was 16 and am a true believer in Christ and in His church (I am very involved in my local church). I have spent most of my career working at various colleges, coordinating programs and serving as a faculty member. I am currently working on a Ph.D. in higher education administration. My personality is somewhat introverted but I am very open to new experiences and new people. I love the beauty of nature and going on hikes, I love to play tennis (I'd rather play than watch most sports), and I love music (mostly gospel, but some jazz and classical). I'm usually very easy going and laid back, not too many things stress me out. I love kids and like to think that they love me too. I believe that people are much more important than things, so friendships and relationships mean a lot to me.

Anything really, to me the person is more important than the event. However, whatever we do, I would love to also have a beautiful dinner and talk the night away and really get to know my date.
The importance of letting your partner know that they truly are special. I believe that comes more from time than things (don't get me wrong, special things certainly have their place), and that the time spent together is priceless. The importance of open/honest communication and the need to listen more than to talk.
Embracing what Righteousness by Faith really means and how that frames all of our fundamental beliefs. Knowing that shields us from legalism yet helps us understand that obedience is important enough to God that He had to give His only Son. It's because of Jesus that the Sabbath, health reform, tithing, and all of our other beliefs have any meaning because whatever we do is only because we love Christ. Then we can call people to follow the God we love, not simply keep a set of rules. We can then focus on intimately knowing God, not just simply knowing facts about Him.
Lord willing, I will complete my Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and find the love of my life (but not in that order)
Psalm 23:6 - ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to live in the house of the Lord. I grew up in an apartment, and living in a house seemed so remote, so I always comforted myself in the thought of living in God's house.
While I live in Ohio, I am a native of Washington, DC, and for the right situation at the right time, would gladly re-locate.
