Introduction

The description of a fun-loving, happy, optimistic, positive, Christian woman who is committed to serving God and who puts God first in my life best describes me. I know that God wants the best for us as His children and when we ask Him to order our steps He leads us to the path of success. All failures in life and relationships come from not inquiring of God how and which way we should proceed. In my search for a life partner and a soul mate, it is most important to me that the man who becomes "my husband" loves God more than he loves me and, is willing to live a life of integrity and transparency that is based on God's laws. I do not want to walk ahead of my husband or behind him. I want to walk beside him and I want US to submit our lives to Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ and to acknowledge that He is the Head of Our family. As a husband and wife our struggle is not one of "equality" but on the contrary we are united by complementarity. We will bring different strengths to the union and we will have different developmental areas. Our understanding of WHO we are in Christ, coupled with self-awareness, self-value, self-love and self-esteem are the underpinnings for a strong marriage. As a couple we will not be ashamed to bear each other's burdens and to care for each other in all kinds of weather. Compassion, kindness, generosity, caring, sharing, helping, honesty, respect, good manners, thoughtfulness, sensitivity, compromise and basic human goodness are the qualities I am looking for in a husband and the things I regard as quintessential for happiness and an enduring marriage. In a nutshell, Our Love must embody the love of God first and love of our neighbor as we love "Ourselves". The Golden Rule must be the standard by which we treat each other and when in doubt we can always ask the question, "Would Jesus like the way I am treating my spouse", or, "Would I treat Jesus this way?".

What I'd like to do on a first date...

First dates should be easy going and allow the couple to see how they respond to each other in a normal everyday setting. I would like to go to Starbuck's and sit and chat with my date because I love coffee shops, especially ones that are in bookstores such as Indigo or Chapters. I'm passionate about books and have tons of books. As a writer-in-progress I find it very inspiring to sit and write at Starbuck's. The ambience there, combined with the aroma of coffee, is very much like sitting in one's kitchen early in the morning with one's spouse before going off to work or school.

My past relationships have taught me...

Past relationships have taught me that love is ultimately an act of courage. To truly love one has to find the courage to be honest, to remove the "mask" and allow the "real" person to be revealed. They have also taught me that each person must be given the opportunity for choice in order to make an informed decision about marriage. This can only be done if each person is honest and suspends the facade of pretending to be who "he" or "she" may not be. This way when a decision is made to move into marriage it is done so from a place of truth and there are no hidden or unrevealed "secrets" to come out after marriage and, like weeds, destroy the beautiful garden of love.

To me, being an Adventist means...

To be an Adventist is to be a part of a worldwide, vibrant, caring, faith community which has "the testimony of Jesus" and abides by the Word of God which includes observing ALL 10 commandments. I see Adventism as a religion which brings the truth of the Torah to the New Testament within the framework of "grace". The essence of the "Old Covenant" is maintained while the "new elements" of the "New Covenant" are incorporated to produce a perfect blend of both.

In five years, I see myself

In the next five years, God willing, I INTEND to be a successful author and life coach/motivational speaker. This is my heart's desire. I would also like to be relocated and living in a warm climate such as the Caribbean where I can go for early morning walks on the beach and leave my footprints in the sand!!

My favorite Bible passage is...

Luke 1:37: "For with God nothing shall be impossible" is my favorite Bible passage. These are the 7 most powerful words in the Bible and they are the words the Angel Gabriel said to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. I am a possibility thinker and I believe that with God all things are possible. I believe that God only has to say "BE" and "IT IS" as we see in the opening chapter of the book of Genesis!

One final thing I'd like to mention...

I love life and I believe that, despite all the ups and downs of life, it is better to have been born than not. God created us for His honor and glory and everything that happens to us in this life is meant to refine and purify us as "pure gold" for our Creator and Sustainer. Life is our classroom and we learn the lessons God intended for us to learn while here on this earth. This is how we gain wisdom and eventually move into fulfillment of our life purpose.
