Oh, the joys of filling in profiles! Where to start? Basically, I'm a quiet, abstract thinking engineer type of person who also enjoys simple things in life- camping, dinner with friends, playing music (if I ever buy another instrument again), occasional gardening (a mini aquaculture rig is forming in my mind), writing, bush walks etc. I like camping. Not softy-cabin-ensuite camping, I mean the REAL thing- tent, fire and a cast iron pot hanging over it with lunch roasting inside!
I recently had a bunch of significant life events happen within the space of a few months:
1. Smashing my knee on a trampoline and having to learn to walk again,
2. Getting sacked from my job (a casualty of office politics and a socially disengaged boss),
3. Buying land in the middle of nowhere and moving into a caravan on said land, complete with a gas shower/stove, water tank and solar panels,
4. Completing training to become a cab driver, in order to (a) get my debts under control and (b) regulate working hours to allow for study (later in the year) and a knee reconstruction (when finances allow).
So now that I'm living like Davey Crockett and able to walk in a straight line without my leg collapsing, I'm seeking for the Lord to use me in His service and also make room for someone in my very unconventional life. If you're looking for Mr Likes-sport-and-cars-and-works-a-boring-job, I'm a million light years away from being that person. Underneath my quiet, reserved exterior is a mind that is creative, radical and driven - I set goals in both temporal and spiritual matters and shoot for them. I visualize things and work to bring them to fruition. The thought of being trapped in a repetitive day job chills me, hence the drive to further study amongst other activities. I believe in our message as SDA's 100% and openly live and promote it. I see Heaven close on the horizon.
Now, the 'what I'm looking for' bit: Can you see yourself in the picture articulated above? I'm not saying that you'll always be living in the wilderness and doing the Pioneer Adventist thing, but something of that nature needs to be flowing through your veins, or I'll drive you nuts in a very shorts space of time. :)

Get to know the other person. Your thoughts, your dreams, your likes and dislikes. As far as the setting, food is always a good start! It can be a restaurant, a picnic table, the beach... as long as it works for both of us.
When God made Adam and Eve, he didn't give them screens and webcams :)
I've learned that good relationships grow in time and trust... both in quantity. When two people work as life partners, when they prefer one another's company and actually like each other (as opposed to pursuing a relationship for purely selfish motives), then there's a chance of things working.
That I am no longer a Sunday keeper :P
Well, what it really means is that I have a faith and a worldview that is truthful, based on scripture. It's more than just "church", Jesus IS my identity. Not my job, not my family, not my culture, not ANYTHING on this earth, or inside of me, everything comes second to God. When all else fails, He is there, unchanging. From this, I find my identity, my worth, my purpose and direction.
Seventh Day: The God who created me
Adventist: is coming back to take me home soon.
God has given us a sacred calling for this time in Earth's history, That doesn't make us better than everyone else, just the opposite- it places a solemn responsibility upon us to play our part in sharing this message with others. It isn't our love for others that drives us to do this, it's the Lord's love, working through is to draw others to Him.
When you think about it, life on Earth is too short to do all the good things we want to do. I'm thinking into the future, when I'll have all eternity to learn, build, sing, travel, plan, create, whatever.. in the meantime, I'm glad for what I have and the opportunities I have now to enjoy life as a Christian.
At peace with the Lord, I want to be serving in His name and to know that I'm fulfilling His will.
More specifically, I'm aiming to further educate myself in software/electronic engineering to broaden my job/business opportunities and give me some leverage with those impassable barriers called "employment agencies" )cringe!(. Put a shed and house on the land. Of course, all this is somewhat dependent on how my knee fares, especially after surgery. There is a chance I may be physically limited in terms of physical activity, but I should at least be able to walk and carry things. There are also needs in the local church community that I will be supporting to a large degree as well as my local church commitments for teaching/preaching. This is, of course, assuming that Jesus doesn't return by then ;)
"Be still, and know that I am God."
I could fill this section with verses. I'm thankful for the whole bible. It's been part of my life since I was a kid. I can see now, looking back, what a huge difference that made in my life. Through it, I met Jesus. What more can I say?
I am a firm believer in the words of Jesus- "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. By the bible, I judge my motives and thoughts, my values and dreams. I also uphold Ellen White's writings as inspired of the Lord and they have been one of the greatest blessings to my faith.
I am a vegetarian for health reasons as much as biblical ones and I'm grateful for the new lease of life I've found in living our health message. Cooking is one of my favorite passtimes, I love my food!
I believe as the bible says, "by beholding, we become changed" and I carefully consider the things that I bring into my life. There's very little secular entertainment that I would make time for, it just doesn't interest me. I'm much happier in a peaceful environment, being with good friends or doing something constructive. I mention this for a good reason: A number of women have approached me who thought that I was the "Spiritual Man" that they were looking for, only to realize that our lifestyles were totally incompatible. Consider if you are taking a similar path with the Lord. Two cannot walk together except they be agreed.
My profile says I'm open to people world wide, but I should say that Australia is home for me. This is where my best opportunities are. God may have different plans for me... we'll see. :)
