Introduction
Hello, I enjoy meeting new people, especially those with varied interests and diverse backgrounds.... My own interests are wide (I’ve traveled a lot in the Middle East and Europe and appreciate other cultures), and learning more about other similarly thoughtful and original people is always a pleasure!
I’m not normally much of an online socializer, but we'll see... :) I do enjoy writing. I appreciate having both imaginative and deep discussions about anything and everything; from God and faith to art, music, history, current events, science and psychology. I'm passionate about life, family, and God: a 4th generation SDA and very committed to the church and personal evangelism. I'm very focused with my career goals, but life is nothing if only work; I enjoy stopping and smelling the roses. I enjoy being in nature and a variety of sports.
I'm an independent-type person, but I am at that phase in life where I'm realizing more of my friends are married than not married... and an... awareness... of loneliness does occur.... ;) I would seek an original thinker (I’m definitely one myself), yet also very balanced, understanding, and adaptable....

Explore each other's minds. :) The venue doesn't matter greatly, I enjoy a wide variety of activities out-of-doors... but for a first date just a simple meal out would also do and the chance to talk at a park or other quiet setting afterward would be enough. I'm very relaxed, nothing too formal....

By choice, I've never pursued or been in a long-term serious relationship. I've been in no hurry for such things.... I trust God for the right timing.
I've enjoyed the friendships I've developed with women, and I believe I can say I've learned a few things about the more fascinating gender... in particular that they're all unique.... Other than that, patience, honesty, communication and trust are necessary for respect in any friendship. And if I expect it, I'll give it.

Hmm... for this one I could give a long answer.... Two things: First, an active, living connection with Christ and the Word. He is the source from which everything else meaningful in our life emanates. Second, being an Adventist does include an understanding about "present truth." This reality mustn't be forgotten, now more than ever. History is replete with the stories of individuals whom God put in positions of trust where growth was required... and we must grow too. From the foundation that Adventism provides. I'm loathe to use labels, but for those that understand such terms I'd call myself a "progressive conservative."
I've had my own personal struggles with faith like everyone; I have my weaknesses most certainly. But I've never felt rebellious and have always known the church is where I belong.

I'm a year away from a doctorate in philosophy & theology, with the goal of teaching at a university. I have career and academic goals in life and I take them seriously, but I’m far from obsessed with my work. Balance is key :)
After finishing my doctorate, I hope to begin teaching, or if God opens the doors, continue studying toward another doctorate in psychology. The relationship between faith and science is one of my primary professional pursuits. But sharing Jesus in whatever way I may to all that enter my sphere of influence is the object of my life.
I also work with computers and technology on the side, and am hoping to receive certification for this during the next few years.

It changes every month :) I'm currently appreciating the story of Job. Suffering, and the causes for it, are such an important part of the questions people ask today... The story of Job provides some profound, and often today still misunderstood, answers.

Family is very important to me; I have one of the closest families I know. I was homeschooled together with my 3 sisters, a decision by my parents that I plan to implement into my own family someday. Both my parents are college teachers today, and have taught almost every grade at some point in their lives (which is why they homeschooled us!). I can’t say I’m wild about too many pets and animals, but I’ve certainly grown up with them around. I love nature, lived in the country, and wouldn’t exchange the time that I spend in nature for anything. I love helping with youth (Pathfinders, etc.) on campouts. I actively participate in many sports; soccer, baseball, football, basketball, and even a more recent appreciation for skiing. I'm very health conscious, and exercise regularly.
I’m very comfortable writing and speaking publicly (teaching or preaching at church, etc.), and I’ve been told I’m effective and adaptive to my audiences; socially, however, I’m usually very introverted (this is worth emphasizing, I'm usually very quiet) and more of a listener. I'm comfortable with all types of people, whether or not we have much in common. I seldom share about myself in person; in writing I'm more comfortable doing so. The greatest compliment several of my feminine friends have given me is that I never draw attention to myself. ;)
Usually I’m more serious and reflective about things, but I’m always ready to relax and enjoy the humorous side of life. At times, I can be spontaneous, especially with close friends and family.
