What I'd like to do on a first date...

Since Arkansas is a long way from where most single men live, a first date would require a lengthy trip for one of us. I would not expect this to happen until we had spent some time getting acquainted long distance. However, there is nothing like meeting face to face. I would hope to spend a couple of days at least, doing a lot of heart to heart talking in a relaxed, natural setting. Of course we would have to eat, so we could fix a meal together, make a picnic lunch and eat in a favorite restaurant. You show me your favorite spots and I'll show you mine.

My past relationships have taught me...

Communication is a very important thing. I really can't read your mind and you can't read mine. I need to be very specific about my needs and listen carefully and ask questions to be sure that I understand your needs. Teach me how to make you feel respected and loved. I want to learn to do it right.

To me, being an Adventist means...

I was born to Adventist missionary parents and attended Adventist schools K through college. I worked in an Adventist hospital for 13 years and spent 15 months in Ethiopia as a volunteer missionary. I have also had a year of training and worked for 20 years in non-Adventist institutions. Adventism is a way of life for me, to be practiced 24/7. I believe that Bible prophecy is being fulfilled daily and that Christ's Second Coming will be very soon. I need to be sure that my character is developed to reflect Christ's to those around me and to be able to explain from the Bible the reasons for my unique beliefs.

In five years, I see myself

I cannot read my future with any great certainty at this point. I expect to be at least partially retired. This will give me more time for volunteer work of some kind. I would like to be able to spend more time in Bible study and helping others to understand the doctrinal and lifestyle teachings of the Bible. If God directs me to meet a special person to share the remainder of my life on earth with, I would be very happy.

My favorite Bible passage is...

God has given us so much useful instruction and many wonderful promises in His word. One that speaks especially to me is Psalm 27:14 "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait , I say, on the Lord." God knows how impatient we can be so he admonishes us twice to wait on His direction for our lives. He offers us courage and strength for all the perplexing times we face now and in the closing scenes of this sinful earth's history. What a great admonition and promise!

One final thing I'd like to mention...

Age is relative. I have been young for only 70 years. I have no aches or pains, no health problems and take no medication. I live a happy, active, joyful life. I laugh a lot but am not afraid to cry. God willing, I would like to meet someone special to share with me the abundant life that we have left on this earth and to prepare for an eternity with Him.
