Introduction

Non-drama queen and happy-go-lucky most of the time. I'd like to think I'm charming, witty and the coolest 57 year old on the block, but you'll have to be the judge of that I guess. I will try to avoid being cliche or repeat what everyone else says about loving the outdoors, movies, sports etc, because simply put, I like most everything and can find the "awesome" in little things. Example: I love to shoot pool and play golf but I am utterly terrible at both which is why I have lots of practice laughing at myself. I'm prone to think finding "Mr. Right" at my age is akin to pigs flying, but hope springs eternal and here I am! I am looking forward to this adventure with an open mind and hope to find meaningful, life-long friendships and if it's God's will for me - something deep and meaningful. I'm clueless of new dating rules (if there are new rules); a little bogged down in fear that dating has changed dramatically since I was in my 20's, but I'm jumping in anyway! I love to spend quiet times in good conversation, exploring strange new cities, riding public transportation, visiting botanical gardens, hanging out at festivals, people-watching and singing at church. My list goes on, but a girl has to have some secrets, right?!

What I'd like to do on a first date...

Meet for coffee first or do something during the day such as a walk through historical downtown...any downtown. Visit a museum or find a festival going on somewhere.

My past relationships have taught me...

I've learned that listening keeps me from saying things I'll regret. That nagging doesn't help. Give others the benefit of the doubt. A smile goes a LONG way and laughing even further. NEVER go to sleep angry, you might develop ulcers and wrinkles.

To me, being an Adventist means...

Opening myself up to and looking for any opportunity to make a difference in the life of someone else. Performing some random act of kindness every day. Being a Christian is more than sitting in the church pew every week. It's also about the other six days and reading the Bible and visiting God in prayer each day makes Him real to me.

In five years, I see myself

I will accomplish seeing my daughter through nursing school. Selling my home in North Carolina and settling permanently in Texas where I can be close to my daughter, mom and granddaughter. I'm planning to take my 85 year old mother to Northern Italy while she is still able to travel. It is something she says she would love to do, so I'd like to make that happen for her. Practice the piano more so I'm not so darn rusty.

My favorite Bible passage is...

Roman 5: 3-5
..."we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us." Why is this one of my favorites...? To develop the character that produces hope which does not disappoint....what can be better than that!?

One final thing I'd like to mention...

I don't mind meeting people from other states, but you'll have to travel to my area. P.S. Sorry for the bad profile pictures. It was the best I could come up with on short notice. Much in the way of personal effects are still packed from my move last month. Lastly, I like to cook and try new recipes, so if you're a picky eater you might want to pass me by. If you have iffy hygiene habits, I wouldn't be a good match. Oh, did I mention I am the pedicure kind of girl?
